The original task of the GNS cask service was and still is the handling of the CASTOR® casks to be loaded in the nuclear power plants. In the meantime, several other tasks have been added. For example, the cask service also takes care of the transport logistics and organization of the up to 400 casks from the Mülheim site each year.
Both in Mülheim and at the power plant and storage sites, the cask service offers leak tests and periodic inspections for MOSAIK® casks, and periodic inspections for Konrad containers at the power plant and storage sites.
